the brain

"And the people should know that out of nothing but [the brain] joy, delights, laughter and sorrow, sadness, despair and lamentation arise. And by doing so, we acquire wisdom and knowledge in a special way, and see and hear, and know what is false and what is honest, what is evil and what is good, what is sweet and what is distasteful ... and by the same organ we become mad and delirious, and fears and horrors attack us ... All these things we sustain from the brain, when these are not healthy... In these ways, I believe that the brain exercises the greatest power over man. This is the interpreter for us of those things that come from the sky when [the brain] happens to be in a healthy state." Oh, my God.

That was a long time ago (approx. 460 BC). Today we know a lot more about the human brain, but the essence remains more or less the same. This gray mass, this peak of efficiency with its 100 billion neurons and 500 billion synapses steers and guides us daily from second to second without being, sometimes, very aware of it. Unfortunately, the brain does not always function as it should, with very annoying consequences such as psychoses, autism, depressions and what they are. These are of course but stickers, in reality there are processes in progress that sometimes are somewhat extreme and go in an unintended direction.

This blog essentially aims to bring ideas to the attention of the public in the area of consciousness. There will be more blogs about the human brain.

wow book
